Florence is captivating in every season, but our favorite time is late October & November. April through October brings bustling piazzas, outdoor events, long sunlit days, and more visitors. July and August are typically the hottest. From November to March, the city takes on a more intimate charm, with cooler weather, occasional rain, and fewer crowds.
The best way to explore Florence is by foot, especially in the historic center, but be aware of the well-worn cobblestones and make sure to have supportive shoes for lots of walking. Florence’s bus system connects key landmarks and neighborhoods, allowing you to navigate the city without driving.
Florence’s famous landmarks are unforgettable must-sees, but to experience the city like a local, venture beyond the well-trodden paths to places like Sant’Ambrogio, a lively neighborhood east of the historic center.

I was born and raised in Rome, and my family is immersed in travel. I have family members who are Tour Managers, local guides, airline agents, hoteliers, and port agents. During my free time, I enjoy antiquing, walking my dog — a Lagotto Romagnolo (an Italian breed specialized in truffle hunting), and growing Pra' Basil to make my own homemade pesto.

I rated the accommodations good rather than excellent only because the second hotel had a train track next to it, and trains ran all of the time. We loved our tour manager. He was wonderful! We also loved the cooking class, wine shop tasting, Stresa, Siena, glassblowing, Gondola ride, our hotel room in Venice, Carrara Marble Quarries, villages of Cinque Terre.d

Max was great. He is knowledgeable, comical and understanding. He was a joy to travel with. The local guides were very knowledgeable. I did have a bit of trouble keeping up with them on the steep streets. The city we stayed in 4 nights was good but it would have been better to have a tour of the town the first day so we were familiar with where everything was. Overall it was a wonderful trip.

The final dinner for the group was at the restaurant that our tour manager Albe personally knew the staff in Montecatini Terme Antica Osteria Toscana (I think that is what the name of the restaurant was) -it was great bonding and memorable not having it at the hotel atmosphere-great camaraderie’s- great food . A nice close to the trip. Eccellente! Grazie!

It was my first trip to Italy, and a wonderful and fascinating introduction to a beautiful and historically significant region of the world. Our guides and tours were so enjoyable, the free time at each destination, and at the hotel for the evening were a fun part of every day. Such a well-planned tour, with some great special access and some fun surprises along the way, we will definitely use Collette travel again. One of the many unforgettable moments of the trip was my first-ever in-person sight of the Coliseum, it brought me to tears.

I never wanted to leave beautiful Tuscany in Italy! Collette did an amazing job of organizing a tour that made sure we experienced everything important but with enough time on our own to do our own thing! Our tour manager, Alberto Pecoral, was absolutely the BEST!

The tours were good and my favorites were the cooking class, the wine tasting and the farm with the cheese tasting. The tour manager, Albie was outstanding! It would have been nice to have additional options available during “free time” but Tuscany was lovely and our accommodations in Montecatini-Terme were excellent!

Unbelievable week with wonderful people, an incredible tour manager in the most beautiful place in Italy. A couple of my favorite parts of the trip or a hot balloon ride over Umbria and a lunch with a local family on the hills of Tuscany at their home.

This tour is by far the most beautiful travel experience we’ve had! From beginning to end we were delighted with the rich culture, history, beautiful landscapes, superb food, and lovely accommodations in Umbria and Tuscany. Our tour guide, Ben, was absolute perfection. He guided us seamlessly through so many beautiful places, enriching the experience with delightful stories along the way. Our favorite experience was interacting with the locals at the truffle and olive oil farms, and the family who invited us into their home and regaled us with piano playing by their son. All of the towns we visited were so quaint, and the churches were incredible. The local tour guides provided terrific insight. The memories of this tour will last a lifetime. I could not recommend it enough!!

The tour was so good that this 83 year old did not want the 13 day trip to end. Paolo our guide could answer every question we asked and elaborate in detail about it. He did a perfect job of handling our 47 tourist group, keeping us together in spite of large age range differences. I have many photos showing the beautiful scenery we were surrounded by throughout Italy. I am happy I chose Italian Vistas as my trip!
