Italy is a destination with a little something for everyone. And we understand the desire to explore it all firsthand. We’ve been sharing Italy’s rich culture with travelers since 1989. Collette’s Italy tours are designed and led by experts who call Italy home — so you’ll go far beyond the guidebook, experiencing the iconic sights with chances to uncover your own personal connection to the region along the way. Andiamo, traveler.
Italy enchants in every season, offering something special no matter when you visit. Spring and fall are perfect for mild weather, colorful landscapes, and fewer crowds, ideal for leisurely strolls through history-soaked cities. Summer brings lively festivals and sun-drenched coastlines, inviting travelers to embrace Italy’s energy at its fullest. Winter reveals a quieter side, with festive holiday markets, cozy trattorias, and snow-capped mountains in the north. Whether you're chasing sunshine along the Amalfi Coast, marveling at Renaissance art in Florence, or skiing in the Dolomites, Italy is always ready to impress.
Italy’s train system is a practical and scenic way to explore the country. Routes connect major destinations, including Rome, Florence, Venice, and Naples, with frequent departures and central stations. Tickets are easy to book online or at kiosks, and traveling by rail means skipping traffic while enjoying stunning views along the way.
Rome is a must for ancient ruins, Florence showcases Renaissance masterpieces, and Venice’s canals are world-famous for a reason. Milan offers cutting-edge fashion and design, while the Amalfi Coast delivers breathtaking views. Tuscany’s vineyards provide the perfect countryside retreat, and Sicily’s deep-rooted traditions add a distinct charm. And when you’re ready to explore Italy’s lesser-known gems, Collette’s expert guides can show you the way.

The whole tour was memorable. The tour manager was outstanding, the bus driver was great, all the side trips were great. There isn't one thing I would change about the tour itself. I would have preferred a nonstop flight. That's the only thing I would change

Our goal, when planning our Italy trip, was to use a tour company to take care of everything for us. COLLETTE went beyond our expectations. We saw so much and learned so much. Our tour manager, Giulio Passariello, was amazing! Cannot say enough great things about him. He was well informed, very helpful, never let anything upset him, and simply a very nice man. Our hotels were first class all the way. Also, our bus driver, Alex, was awesome. Superb driving and so nice. Will definitely recommend Collette to others.

This Italy tour with Collette was amazing. It gave us a quick overview of places we want to revisit. Stresa was such a relaxing place to start with the hotel overlooking the water. Portofino and cinque terra were also a place to re-explore and hike around between the villages. Of course Tuscany was truly beautiful with our villa overlooking the valley. The food at our villa was delicious and the people were so friendly making it a perfect place to stay. We enjoyed our excursions while in Tuscany as well as our day just relaxing at the villa. We needed one more day as we were thinking about exploring Siena or a winery. We felt comfortable in Venice and enjoyed seeing the city wake up before the tourists. I would have liked to see the inside of St. Mark’s Basilica but tickets were sold out. Knowing that we had free time one afternoon beforehand may have allowed us to get timed tickets. All in all the trip was exactly has we had hoped and we definitely need to go back. Thank you to Andrea for being the ideal tour manager. He along with our small travel group were fun, on time and respectful which we couldn’t have asked for anything better!

First of all, I need to rave about our Tour Guide, Cinzia Trappa. She made the trip amazing. I would rate her a 20 out of 10. She took such good care of us. Cinzia was full of energy, enthusiastic, funny, knowledgeable about the cities we were visiting and told us so much about the Italian culture. You could tell she loved her country. Being of Italian descent I could relate to many of her stories about growing up in Italy. She and Danielle, our bus driver had a great rapport and took us to so many wonderful places. The itinerary was great. It's hard to pick a favorite place. One of my fondest memories was the Agritourismo we visited that made the Ricotta cheese. The proprietor also was named Cinzia and made our visit so much fun. We got to tour the farm and I was able to hold a baby lamb. We also helped to make Arancini Balls and then were treated to the most delicious lunch. We especially loved Matera - it's beyond words. We also loved Agrigento, Albero Bello, Taormina and Positano / such beautiful cities. Our fellow travelers were woo. I wouyhsve liked another day in Sorrento and Rome. We have a few negatives mainly concerning the hotels. While the hotels themselves were nice, especially the resorts, we had trouble with the showers/bathtubs in almost all. Some of the showers didn't have doors and the bathrooms flooded. In one hotel the shower drain was clogged and again we dealt with flooding. We complained to the staff and it was supposedly cleared but it was still a problem. Also the shower and tub floors were extremely slippery. The last thing, the hotel dinners were sub par. All of the restaurants Cinzia recommended or took us to in the towns were delicious. We would highly recommend this trip to others.

Italy is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit depends on your preferences.
April - May is one of the best times to visit, with mild weather, blooming flowers, and bustling cities.
June - August is peak tourist season, with warm to hot weather; major cities can be crowded and hot.
September - October is another excellent time to visit, with pleasant temperatures, harvest festivals, and crowds begin to decrease toward late October.
November - March is considered off-season, with cooler temperatures, fewer tourists and often offer lower tour prices.
Italy, being one of the world's top travel destinations, often has busy tourist sites, so travelers should be ready to navigate through crowds. In many historical centers, coaches are prohibited, necessitating significant walking over uneven cobblestone paths and navigating stairs without railings.
From handpicked hotels, restaurants, and cultural experiences to thoughtfully integrated free time, our on-the-ground team in Italy crafts journeys they'd want to take themselves.
Travelers always tell us that Tour Managers make the journey. It's like traveling with a friend who's got the inside scoop. They live in the destination and share hidden gems that only the locals know.
From the ancient ruins of Pompeii to the chic charm of the Isle of Capri, embark on a spectacular Italian getaway.
